That simple question, referring to the timing of the Rapture, is a sure way to set otherwise mild-mannered Christians to arguing. Added to the discussion in recent years are the Pre-Wrath Rapture position, and one we had not heard before this year’s Prophecy Summit, the Pre-Day of the Lord Rapture.
Dr. David Olander, Professor of Biblical Languages & Theology at Tyndale Theological Seminary and author of The Greatness of the Rapture: The Pre-Day of the Lord Rapture, explains the differences between the “Pre” Raptures (Day of the Lord, Wrath, and Tribulation), what happens on the Day of the Lord, and why we don’t want to be on Earth to see it.
This interview is one of about two dozen recorded over the three days of the Prophecy Summit at Pikes Peak, July 26-28, 2013. To see these interviews with all of the presentations from the Prophecy Summit, please visit our friends at Prophecy in the News.

Two points. Olander seems to come across as placing too fine a point on pre-wrath timing. Yet, semantics is what trips up much of the body of Christ. To paraphrase Zola Levitt, if a church had a Jew in the congregation, replacement theology wouldn’t be so prevalent. Another example is the word rapture. It’s not in the KJV, but it is in the Vulgate. The Latin is a direct translation of the Greek. The Latin is from the same root for raptor. Eagles, hawks and falcons seize, snatch up, carry away their prey.
Second point. About the Rappaport interview, our world view colors our opinions. This is anecdotal. I served on a criminal trial jury. The evidence supported a crime committed. The question was, “Did the crime directly cause the death of one the victims? Was the hospital where the victim was treated culpable in the their death? Some on the panel voted for murder one. Some wanted acquittal and to even ignore the assault charges.
The love of God encompasses justice, as well. It’s our choice, life or death.
Thank you for airing this important message. This “Pre-Day of the Lord Rapture” is a much better way of describing the “Pre-Tribulation Rapture” I’ve believed for several decades. It is a nice introduction to the video presentations I’ve been producing of Pastor Doug Riggs’ messages on the Church’s eschatology. For those who want to pursue further a serious Bible study of the Day of the Lord and the proof of our rescue prior to it, I highly recommend these messages, especially “The Blessed Hope” and “The Helmet of Salvation” (session 2 currently being prepared) available at bookministry .org’s video page. Thanks again.
